 History

 

The Graduate Institute of Landscape and Recreation was established in 2003, and began enrolling students that same year. In 2006, a Master’s degree program in Landscape and Recreation was opened for working professionals and began recruiting students. In 2007, the name was changed to the Master’s Program in Landscape and Recreation.

 

 

 

 

Objectives & Features

This program was established in 2003, at a time when multi-disciplinary diversification had become an important trend in the field of landscape and recreation management. It recruits students interested in advanced studies in the fields of landscape and recreation and has developed theoretical courses in these fields. The curriculum is designed to provide comprehensive integrated training in landscaping and recreation and related fields. Students gain an understanding of how to solve practical problems in the landscape and recreation planning and management, as well as learn a solid foundation in academic theory. The scope of professional knowledge includes domestic and international recreational and environmental planning, landscape design, cultural landscape design, landscape ecology, greening and beautification projects, visitor surveys and analysis, visitor behavior management, recreation area marketing and planning and recreation program and event development, etc. Based on the course of study, students enrolled in the Landscape Division can take recreation-related courses and students enrolled in the Recreation Division can take landscape-related courses. In addition, this program possesses an elite faculty and advanced educational facilities. Academia-industry collaborations are carried out in the recreation industry, and research is implemented for scenic areas and national parks to provide students with the opportunity to receive research and practical trainings.

 

A. Objectives:

In order to integrate research, planning, design and management in the fields of landscape and recreation, there are four core aspects of this program: specialization in landscape, specialization in recreation, academic research and practical training.
